These are my inspirations:
Hachiko ♥ Loyalty
If you haven’t heard about Hachiko, you can read his story here. Basically, he’s an Akita dog, whom is called Hachi. I watched a movie about him before I read up on him, and in the movie, it states that no one really knows where he came from, but it shows him coming from a Monastery in Malaysia (I believe). He makes his way to America via a carriage ride, and an aeroplane. He ends up at a train station and is supposed to take the train, but he wiggles in his cage and it falls off of the luggage carrier. A man comes and picks him and his crate up, and brings it to the train station, but the clerk guy can’t keep him overnight. So, either the guy takes him home, or Hachi goes to the pound. He takes the puppy home and it becomes the family dog, much to the chagrin of his wife, but Hachi grows on everyone. Anyway, after a few years, the man has a heart attack at work and dies. Hachi, who always waited for him to come home from work via train, sat and waited at the train station all day and night until the man’s daughter’s fiancee comes to get him. But Hachi ran away, so they brought him back, and then he moved in with the daughter, because her mom is now a widower and moved away. But, at the new house, the daughter realizes that he’s miserable, and she talks to Hachi, and she opens the gate just a sliver, and lets him make his choice. He looks at her, goes through the gate, and turns around. They make eye contact, then he turns and sprints off back to the train station. He waited there every day, the same spot, for a decade, until he got old and died. The only thing that he wanted was his master back, and he waited nine years in the same spot for him, only eating what people passing by gave him. If that’s not the definition of loyalty, then I don’t know what is. But, that’s just the movie version. Basically, the same thing happened in the real version, which you can read here. A statue of him has been erected in the same spot that he waited everyday for his master. View it here.
Balto ♦ Righteousness
As a child, growing up, I loved the movie Balto. I loved the characters and the scenes, and I loved all of the wolves’ and dogs’ colours. Everything was beautiful and I loved it. I thought that it was a nice tale and it has always been a favourite of mine. I never realized how much of a hero Balto really was until a few years ago when I googled him and brought up the real story. In Nome, Alaska, a potentially deadly epidemic broke out among young people, and they needed a serum to cure all of those infected. The serum was in Anchorage, which is 1600 km away. The serum travelled by train from Anchorage to Nenana, and then from there by dogsled to Nome. Balto, despite being a wolf (or wolf-dog hybrid) in the movies, was in fact a Siberian Husky. He led his team of dogs to deliver the serum. He was named after the Sami explorer Samuel Balto. Whether or not he was aware of what he was doing in real life, the movie version of himself knew that he was doing good, and he brought everyone together for the greater good. A statue of him was erected in Central Park, in New York City, which is shown at the end of the first Balto movie, I believe. You can view it here, and you can read up on the real Balto here, as well as the first movie here, and Samuel Balto himself, here. Also, Balto was aided by another sled dog named Togo, who passed the serum to a dogsled, who in turn passed it to Balto to carry. You can view Togo here.
Bo Derek ☼ Integrity
Now, I will start by admitting that I don’t know much about Bo Derek. I know that she was in movies, and by watching her interviewed on Oprah, I know that she’s a sweet soul. She was married once, but her husband died, and now she’s with John Corbett, her boyfriend. They live on a secluded ranch together in California and work with horses. They love it. They both do their own thing, and they’re very independent. Bo’s a really sweet girl, though, and that stood out to me. She’s very real, and very shocking, or at least I thought so. She’s very caring, compassionate, kind, sweet, honest, and really just amazing. I don’t even know; it’s hard to explain, unless you watch the video. But, the thing that struck me the most was that she mentioned that she didn’t believe that you should have to say “thank you” if someone compliments you. Her example was because people compliment her on her beauty and her looks all the time, and she brushed it off like, “I don’t think that you should have to thank someone for the way your bones lined up.” And it was honest and sincere, and she didn’t mean any harm or ill intent by it. She wasn’t even being bitchy. She was being honest and sincere, and she believes that everyone is beautiful, and that just opened my eyes for me. You can view her here.
Sierra Kusterbeck ♪ Realism
To be completely honest with you, when I first heard about VersaEmerge, I didn’t like them at all. I think that I didn’t like the idea of them, though, because once I listened to them, I liked them. And when I heard Sierra on “If It Means A Lot To You” by A Day To Remember, I liked her even more. I always saw her mentioned on Tumblr, but even more specifically was whenever feathers were mentioned or shown. And then I saw a quote of hers today and had to reblog it. It made me gain so much more like and respect for her. I had originally thought that she was just a bitch or something, like I had for Megan Fox and Miley Cyrus, but then I realized that she wasn’t one, and that none of them were You can view the quote here. Bob Marley ♫ Love
I don’t know much about Bob Marley other than he was a musician, and that he died of cancer. Also, weed’s always associated with him, but what else is associated with him is love. Love and peace. So much of it, as well as a lot of “one love”, which is extremely beautiful. I don’t know, I just think that he’s an incredibly neat guy, and I have mad respect for him. I think that you could learn a lot from him. You can view him here.
Marilyn Monroe ♠ Beauty
Marilyn Monroe was beautiful. And up until a few months ago, I didn’t know that she was a “bigger” girl. I had always thought that she was slim. But so many people post about her being bigger, and how she was beautiful, even if her thighs touched when she walked, or her stomach rolled when she sat down. I never knew any of that until lately, and that makes me have so much more love and respect for her. She was incredibly beautiful and talented, and she’s a perfect and popular example of why your body shape doesn’t determine your beauty or who you are as a person. You can view her here.
Hideaki Akaiwa ♣ Devotion
This guy is amazing. When the Tsunami hit his home town of Ishinomaki, Hideaki was at work. Realizing his wife was trapped in their home, he ignored the advice of professionals, who told him to wait for the army to arrive to provide search and rescue. Instead he found some scuba gear, jumped in the raging torrent - dodging cars, houses and other debris being dragged around by the powerful current, any of which could have killed him instantly - and navigated the now submerged streets in pitch dark, freezing water until he found his house. Swimming inside, he discovered his wife alive on the upper level with only a small amount of breathing room, and sharing his respirator, pulled her out to safety. If he had waited for the army, his wife of 20 years would be dead. Oh, and if that’s not enough badassery for one lifetime, Hideaki realized his mother was also unaccounted for, so jumped back in the water and managed to save her life also. Since then Hideaki enters the water everyday on a one-man search and rescue mission, saving countless lives and proving that two natural disasters in a single day, and insurmountable odds can’t stand in the way of love. Jack Barakat ☻ Ambition
Okay, I know what you must be thinking: how is the guitarist of All Time Low an inspiration? Well, despite his might-as-well-be-a-nudist-persona, he’s amazing. He’s incredibly sweet and dedicated, and he is a real man. He’s living the dream, and he’s taught me to love life and love all of my friends around me, as well as go for my dreams. He always dreamed of being in a band, and with his love and dedication, look where All Time Low has gone. I know that it’s a 25% effort from all four of them (Jack, Alex, Zack, and Rian), but he was the one who dreamed big and bugged all of them to start a band and play Blink 182 covers, and he worked for his dream, and now he’s living it. You can view him here.
Martin Johnson ☺ Strength
The big thing for me with Martin is the song “Go” by Boys Like Girls. He’s the vocalist, and I’m pretty sure that he writes most of the material, if not all of it. He’s really dedicated, even though Boys Like Girls might be on hiatus right now, and he’s very much involved with TWLOHA (To Write Love On Her Arms) which is a suicide awareness organization and stuff. Also, Boys Like Girls played a small show for a boy, via the Make A Wish Foundation, I believe? If not, it’s another foundation or organization, which can be seen on Boys Like Girls’ DVD “Read Between The Lines”. But, yeah, he’s very much an activist in this field, and I respect that. Also, Martin lost a best friend of his to suicide during high school, and he has a lot of strength in dealing with that, I believe. You can view him here.
Rosa Parks ■ Boldness
Rosa Parks is incredibly bold. What she did by standing up to the people on the bus was incredibly stupid, but it was never wrong. It was right, and it was exactly what needed to happen. I am so proud of her for what she did, even though I would never have the courage to do that. She showed me what it takes to be a hero and take a stand. I admire her greatly for it. You can view her here.
Martin Luther King, Jr. □ Courage
Martin Luther King, Jr. and I share a birthday. Yes, that is how I started this blurb for him, but that’s not why. He did a lot of great and amazing things, and he is just so serene and noble. I admire him for his strength and courage, and he’s shown me what it’s like to be a true hero. I know that I could write more, but if I start, I’ll never stop. You can view him here.
Mahatma Ghandi ▲ Tranquillity
Ghandi is commonly spelled two ways: Ghandi or Gandhi. I don’t think it matters which way you spell it, I think it’s more where you’re from. I believe the “correct” way is “Ghandi”, so that’s how I’ll spell it. Everyone knows who Ghandi is, so I’m not even going to explain. I just chose tranquillity for him because he’s so serene and peaceful. I really admire him. You can view him here.
John Lennon ► Peace
John Lennon was the singer for the Beatles. He was truly amazing. He saw everything as beautiful, and the only thing that he wanted was peace, love, affection, and freedom. Sadly, he was murdered in a terrible way. The gunman shot him just for the reason that he would be known as the man who killed John Lennon. That’s excruciatingly horrible. His band started the rock era, in my opinion, and I admire him greatly. He did plenty of great things, and he was such a soft soul. You can view him here.
Betty White ▼ Affection
I’ve never known greater affection than I have seen be displayed for this woman. Everyone loves her dearly, and she is simply amazing. She’s just so darling. I admire her, and when I’m her age, I want people to remember me as being so good and kind as she is. She’s hilarious, and she’s such a great actress. When she goes, the world will be devastated. I just know it. She’s taught me how to love everyone. You can view her here.
Atticus Finch ◄ Serenity
Atticus Finch taught me many things. He’s a role model and inspiration to most, and I feel that he’s the best role model from a parent’s viewpoint. Although some things he has said or done can be seen as sketchy, I don’t believe that they are. He’s an amazing character. He’s always looking for the good in everyone and the positivity in every situation. He teaches his children when it’s too early to worry, and he’s an excellent idol. His morals and values are great, and he doesn’t lie to his children. He’s very open and honest with everyone, and everyone admires and respects him. You can view him here.
Speiling Peter ∞ Innocence
Although Peter Pan in general portrays a good sense of innocence and respecting the child in you, I believe that Spieling Peter portrays it just as greatly. Some may say that he’s overrated or only liked for his looks, but that’s not true. He’s very talented and he fits his role completely. He reminds us of childhood innocence and how to be happy and carefree again. It’s amazing. You can view him here.
Emma Watson Ω Intelligence
Emma is incredibly smart. She is so beautiful and talented, and she’s just doing so well for herself. She’s in a lovely school, surrounded by all of her friends. She’s rich and famous, and she has it all. She’s just so bright and lively, and it’s amazing to see someone care so much about their education. You can tell that she really enjoys learning, and she’s just so intelligent. You can view her here.
Daniel Radcliffe ∆ Support
To start, Daniel is an amazing actor. He’s known worldwide. He’s rich and famous, and he has amazing fans and friends. Something that stuck out to me was a quote of his, about supporting gays: “You don’t have to be gay to be a supporter – you just have to be human.” That quote really touches me, and it made me gain so much more like and respect for him. He showed me that you don’t have to be something to support it, which made me confident and proud of what I support. You can view him here.
Ellen Degeneres ◊ Confidence
Ellen is a lovely person. She’s married to a wonderful woman, and I am happy for her. On top of that, she has a great show, and she always gives people great gifts. She’s hilarious and smart, and she’s just amazing. She’s always trying to help people, and I think that all of the love she gets in return for it really pays off. She’s amazing and confident, and she has helped me to feel more confident in my skin. You can view her here.
Megan Fox ♀ Misjudged
Megan Fox is really misjudged. I’ll admit that I used to be one of those people that hated her. I always scoffed when people talked about how “hot” she was, but she really is gorgeous. And people always say that she’s fake, but she was quoted saying that she hated high school because she was surrounded by bitches and stuff, and I understand that and respect her. I have so much respect for her now, and she is a beautiful and brilliant person, even if she was high maintenance for the Transformers movies. You can view her here.
Miley Cyrus ♯ Misunderstood
I think that Miley Cyrus is really misunderstood. I always struggled between liking and disliking her, with her music, and the whole Hannah Montana thing, but now I think that I’ve come to the conclusion that I like and admire her. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be on this list. Now, you can argue with me all you want, but I respect her as a person, and I like her music, and yeah… she’s my inspiration, not yours, and I am inspired by her for many reasons. You can view her here.
Gerard Way ▪ Saviour
Gerard means a lot to me. I’ve always loved MCR and their music, and I love reading fanfics about them, too. They’re just so remarkable, and I’ve always loved their music. I’ve always related to them and their music. And I’m glad that Gerard and LynZ have each other, and their daughter, Bandit Lee. I hate that Gerard went through alcohol and drug problems, and depression, and being so angry at everyone and everything. And I hate that LynZ is constantly hated on for no reason, and I’m so glad that they have each other because they’re both so strong and beautiful, and they have the most wonderful child together. Gerard will never be invisible to me, and he is just incredible. Look up “gerard way nme” on Youtube, and you’ll feel the same way about him as I do. He will never have to feel invisible again, and his strength and persistence is amazing. I have so much respect for him. You can view him here.
Pete Wentz ▫ Modesty
I think that Pete and Gerard both took a lot of shit growing up, and that harmed them. Pete tried to commit suicide before, and Gerard was a huge mess of problems. But now they’re both amazing fathers and husbands, even though Pete’s now divorced. I have always had so much respect for Pete, and I just adore him. He’s so strong, and he’s just himself. He doesn’t care what people think about him, and he’s really modest and nice. I admire and respect him a lot. You can view him here.
